There is a series I would like to use in my classroom, but I've never seen it on AETN. Is there any way I can request it?
Yes. We would love to hear from you. You can send a question, comment, or request to education@aetn.org, and use AETN Scholar on the subject line. You can also call 1-800-488-6689. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to secure the series, but we will make every effort to meet the needs of our viewers and Arkansas teachers.
I am a teacher who wants to incorporate specific segments of these series in my lesson plans, and I don't want to use the entire series. Am I allowed to do that?
Yes. Many of the programs we air are part of a series. You can use any of the programs without showing the whole series.
How long are the rights to programs on AETN Scholar? I don't want to build them into my lesson plan if I can't use them next year.
Many of the programs on AETN Scholar are leased on a yearly basis. AETN decides whether to renew rights to a series based on feedback from educators. Every effort is made to lease quality programming that will not need to be replaced in a short time period. The best way to be sure we keep a series is to Contact Us to let us know what programs you like to use.
Is there any Professional Development on AETN Scholar?
Yes. AETN Scholar airs some of the same Professional Development programs found on Arkansas IDEAS. These programs run daily from 3pm to 6pm, and again from 3am to 6am, 7 days a week.
Just watch the program or series, and then go online to take the assessment.
I keep hearing about the AETN Scholar and the overnight blockfeed? What's the difference?
AETN Scholar is one of three digital channels AETN offers over the air. Anyone close enough to one of our digital transmitters and has a digital tuner or digital converter box on their television can pick it up over the air.
The education overnight blockfeed is a service that AETN has offered for years. From midnight to 5 A.M., Tuesday through Saturday, we broadcast programs specifically for educators. Since digital television is still new, we understand that not everyone has access to our digital services. The overnight blockfeed is aired on our main AETN channel, virtually accessable throughout the entire state.
We are having a big push about things being "research based." Do these programs fall into that category?
AETN makes every effort to ensure the most appropriate services and resources are available for Arkansas educators. Using research based programming is part of that effort. The ANNENBERG series, in particular, is research based. If you have a question, check the individual program's web site for more specific information.
Can I get these programs videostreamed?
Currently, the only videostreamed programming AETN Scholar offers is Annenberg Media programs.
Is there a complete listing of every program and series on AETN Scholar?
We are in the process of creating a "program library" that will have all of our programs listed, with discriptions and airdates for each program.
