The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center is Arkansas's first state-funded museum dedicated to telling the story of African Americans. While the Cultural Center is currently under construction, the education staff will visit classrooms and give in-class presentations about African American history, culture and community in Arkansas from 1870 to the present.

The following educational programs are available to school and youth groups throughout the state. All programs are free of charge.

ART AND MUSIC

PORTFOLIO DAY 2006
Saturday, Nov. 18, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
AETN - 350 S. Donaghey, Conway, Ark.
Located adjacent to the UCA Campus

Portfolio Day gives high school students interested in pursuing an art-related post-secondary education the opportunity to meet with college representatives from throughout the region.

Students should bring 10 to 15 pieces of their best work (photos or slides of larger two or three-dimensional or sculptural pieces) and be prepared to discuss their techniques, media choices and creative process.

Students may visit with as many representatives as they choose to learn about the programs and available scholarships. Students are also invited to tour the AETN facilities and learn about the THEA Foundation and its scholarship opportunities.

Each grant recipient will receive unlimited license for use of the Parent Assisted Learning (PAL) Packets® for up to 10 buildings in the district. AETN conducted the first IDEAS education portal training session for 50 participants at the AETN training facilities. The session included accessing the system, system options, using the portal for a portfolio and other items of interest. The training team responded to questions and provided hands-on access to the system.
