The LSI grants are designed to provide seed money for the development of new public service initiatives that strengthen the stations’ role in their communities.
Upon receipt of the grant, AETN will create digital education content for use in middle school classrooms. AETN will also launch an online library of searchable, “bite-sized” audio and video content as part of the STEM Collaborative, which focuses on science, technology, engineering and math. The STEM Collaborative will create an online distribution tool that allows these digital educational resources to be shared with schools, teachers and families.
Public television stations in Maryland, Alabama and Kentucky were also awarded LSI grants.
“AETN, in partnership with sister states, will be creating exciting new digital content for middle school classrooms across America,” AETN Education Director Kathleen Branton said. “Science and math are critical to successful students, and this project takes the next step in the digital classroom.”
