Arkansas Technology Institute (ATI)

Arkansas Technology Institute (ATI) is a 5-day intensive technology training structured to allow participants to merge the use of technology into everyday classroom activities. Workshops explore various technologies and options for their use in the classroom. Participants will work in teams and learn how to use PowerPoint, FrontPage, production equipment such as digital cameras and light kits. They will learn how to write and tape a production and edit it on Adobe Premier software. Projects are presented to the class at the end of the week and are then published on the web. For more information click on the ATI AGENDA.

With five days of intensive training in a technology-rich environment, educators will participate in:
• Hands-on technology activities
• Curriculum-related instruction
• Train-the-trainer model

Graduates will:
• Leave with a project for use in the classroom and 30 hours of professional development
• Have the project posted to the institute Web site
• Become a certified institute trainer

Registration Criteria

Class Size

  • Due to limited class size in each institute session, AETN will accept a maximum of three participants from the same school district.
  • A special request to waive this limitation should be made to AETN prior to registration.
  • Each class will consist of 18 participants, which will be broken down into three teams

Leadership and Team Building

  • The team method of problem solving used by ATI participants in project planning and development is based on the leadership principles taught in the Arkansas Leadership Academy (ALA). For that reason, it is recommended that the superintendent or principal have attended ALA and be familiar with those concepts.
  • ATI is designed to train participants to take what they learn and use it in their districts and schools to train others. Understanding the leadership concepts allows superintendents and principals to provide necessary support and encouragement to their ATI participants

E-mail Address

ATI sessions are conducted during the summer. Communications relating to the sessions are e-mailed. It is essential that participants have e-mail available to them during the summer, weekends and after school hours. You must include a personal e-mail address in your registration.
